Petromax Lantern 150 CP

   PETROMAX KEROSENE PRESSURIZED LANTERNS

Petromax Lanterns "PETROMAX" lanterns were designed and developed by Adolf & Max Graetz, who were appointed managing directors of their family business (Ehrich & Graetz) in 1889. From their efforts arose the most powerful & reliable lanterns in the world. Petromax lanterns run on a variety of fuels.. kerosene, alcohol-based fuels, mineral spirits, citronella oil, gasoline, diesel oil, & almost every flammable fuel available on the market. Designed by the Germans since the early 1900's, these pressurized multi-fuel lantern that would be reliable, easy to use and started with kerosene was invented.

A pressurized multi-fuel lantern was developed for use in Germany in 1922. These lanterns were very dependable because of the vast supply of various fuels throughout the country. They used kerosene as their fuel of choice, but coal oil, diesel fuel and some gasoline supplies were the only available fuels. The first lanterns developed were called Petromax and were used by the German Army. These lanterns not only produced light but could also warm the troops with the radiated heat. There was also a food warmer lantern that had a flat top to place a pot on to warm up the rations. When the grandfather turned the business over to his son later in life, the lantern was then renamed "AIDA". The same strict precision tooling, manufacturing requirements and product controls were enforced for the Aida lanterns. All the Aida parts produced were still interchangeable with the Petromax lanterns.

Now, the grandson controls the company and his name for the lantern was Geniol. The Geniol lantern parts were manufactured also to fit the Aida and Petromax lanterns. Even today, the NATO forces in Europe use these lanterns for their lighting capability and dependability. Many army surplus lanterns are sold throughout the world and the tooling and parts replacement go all the way back to the original Petromax lantern. There have been no changes to the lantern, so that a person owning one would not have to worry about parts availability. In commemoration to 75 years of useful service, the Geniol lantern today has reverted back to the name "PETROMAX." These new Petromax lanterns today will give the owners a lifetime of service with a little tender loving care.

Using kerosene as the fuel of choice and Geniol replacement parts, a lantern could last decades without the worry of parts wearing out from everyday use. As a matter of fact, the Amish people today use these lanterns in their homes, barns and out buildings. They know the value of a good reliable product that stays in the family for generations.
